A Championship Season: The EG21 Story
The greatest sports story that ever happened has never actually been told. If I didn’t go to the school and attend the game in person there’s no way I’d believe the legend.
In 2005, the Charleston Southern University Buccaneers had one of the most insane football seasons ever.
A little more than a year ago I started to get the feeling I wasn’t going to sell furniture for the rest of my life. It was about that time I started to make some changes. I decided I wasn’t going to continue to let this burning sensation inside of me fade away.
In 2005 I had front row tickets to an unbelievable series of events that most of the world doesn’t even know about.
This story mixes faith, grit, determination, emotions, blood, sweat, and tears as it chronicles the CSU Bucs on our journey from the Spring of 2004 to the Fall of 2005.
Paying Dues
One of the reasons I started this blog was to practice. I wanted to practice writing so when it came time to publish the book, I do the story justice. I started the blog in October of 2013 and the book will be published in the Fall of 2015.
Through two years of preparation, I have written over 150 blog posts and an 1 ebook. I can’t wait to share the story with you.
I haven’t solidified a title yet, but I keep referring to this as the EG21 Project. Those that were involved with team know what EG21 means and how he influenced everything over this period of time. Just like that season, Eddie is all over the pages.
As I finish more of the book, I’ll be releasing more of the information. A website is being setup with more details, some photos, and I’ll have a place to stay in touch with you via email. In the mean time, if you want to stay in touch and hear what’s going on with the book, you can sign up for my email list on the right side-bar.
Tell Me Your Side of the Story
I’ve left comments open at the bottom of this page on purpose. If you were a part of that Championship Season, please feel free to share anything about that season you remember. It doesn’t have to be a game, or anything football related. You don’t even have to be on the team to have something to share, but please make it authentic.
This story is from the heart and I’ve had a number of conversations that end up in tears while talking about this story. I am working my hardest to do it justice.
There are also TONS of pictures from that season to which I don’t have access. Some were put on Facebook, which was brand new back then, but I wasn’t tagged in them. Others were just on parent’s cameras and even printed off using Kodak film. I would love to see any and all of these. You can tag me on Facebook, or any other social media medium I use on the side-bar.
I appreciate your comments and following along with this story. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Go Bucs!
